GHW Solicitors LLP (“GHW”, “we” or “us”) takes your privacy and security of personal information very seriously and committed to protecting your personal information. This privacy notice sets out the way in which any personal information you provide to us is used and kept secure. It applies whenever we collect your personal data (including when you use our website or other digital platforms), so please read it carefully.

About us
For the purposes of the Data Protection Act 1998, GHW Solicitors LLP is the “data controller” (i.e. the company who is responsible for, and controls the processing of, your personal data).

What information do we collect about you and what is it used for?
All personal information that we collect about you will be recorded, used, and protected by us in accordance with applicable data protection legislation and this privacy notice.

We may collect, use, store and transfer different kinds of personal data about you which we have grouped together as follows:

(a) Identity data -name, title, job title, address, telephone number, email address, photographic identification, date of birth, credit check
(b) Contact data – billing address, email address and telephone numbers.
(c) Financial Information – bank account or payment card details
(d)Transaction data – details about payments to and from you and other details of products and services you have purchased from us.
(e) Matter information – the categories of personal information that we hold will vary according to the type of matter that we are instructed to advise on. By way of example this may include (and is not limited to criminal convictions or offences, medical conditions, surgeries, therapies, medical history or disabilities.

Disclosure of your personal data
In order to provide our products and services to you or to otherwise fulfil contractual arrangements that we have with you, we may need use selected third parties to carry out data processing activities on our behalf.
We may share your data with third parties:

  • if we are under a legal or regulatory duty to do so
    • if it is necessary to do so to enforce our contractual rights
    • to lawfully assist the police or security services with the prevention and detection of crime or terrorist activity
    • where such disclosure is necessary to protect the safety or security of any persons,
    • otherwise as permitted under applicable law.

We will not share your data with any third parties without prior consent, and we will ensure that your information is appropriately protected if, after your consent, we do.

Data Security
We have put in place appropriate security measures to protect your personal information from being accidentally lost, used or accessed in an unauthorised way, altered or disclosed. In addition, we limit access to your personal information to those people who have a business need to know. They will only process your personal information on our instructions and they are subject to a duty of confidentiality.

We have put procedures in place to deal with any suspected data security breach and will notify you and any applicable regulator of a suspected breach where we are legally required to do so.

We will securely retain your information for as long as is reasonably necessary and in accordance with applicable law. If you wish to submit a request that your data be deleted, please write to us at the above address. You have the right to receive a copy of the personal information that we hold about you. In due course if you are not satisfied that we have addressed your concerns adequately, you have the right to make a complaint to the supervisory authority, the details of which will be provided to you as part of the above process.
